Date: 9, 10 and 11September
Meeting point: Fuente Dé parking lot at 9:00 a.m.
PROGRAM
Departing from Fuente Dé, we’ll ascend one of the most spectacular trails from mining times, the Liordes Lathes. After summiting a peak in the area, we’ll continue through Vega de Liordes and cross The Colladinas to reach Collado Jermoso refuge. Located on the Leonese slope, it offers stunning views of the western massif of Picos, including Peña Santa de Castilla.
From Collado Jermoso, we’ll head towards Cabaña Verónica via Horcada Casares. Continuing onward, we’ll descend through the technical Boches descent, equipped with cables. Passing through the desolate Hou landscape, we’ll arrive at Urriellu Refuge at the base of Pico Urriellu, the iconic summit of Picos de Europa.
Starting from Urriellu, we’ll ascend steadily to Horcada Arenera. Upon reaching Cabrones, we’ll encounter a quieter environment away from population centers. From here, we’ll descend through Canal de Amuesa to the village of Bulnes. Descending further along Canal del Tejo, historically the sole route between Poncebos and Bulnes until the funicular’s construction in 2000, we’ll cross the Cares River via La Jaya bridge and conclude our trek at Poncebos.
